Ben Moreau got closer to photography at the same time he became interested in Bauhaus’ philosophy, the most iconic school of architecture and design of the 20th century. It was at this moment that he knew what his main subjects would be: architecture and minimalism.

He chooses strict geometric compositions and uses hard natural light to highlight colors and textures. The emphasis of construction details is going through a meticulous understanding of the space and the environment. He believes light is more than a subject magnifier, but it is also a crucial component of all architecture creations.

One discovers the beauty of abstraction in an association of perspectives that seem heterogeneous; flat areas of light and shadow produce a discontinuous space as if captured from different points of view. As we observe, we begin to distinguish the dynamics of the forms and the sensitivity of the materials; the whole gains a function and the subject is finally revealed. This back-and-forth interpretation offers a conscious experience of aesthetics and exposes one of the fundamental laws of the Bauhaus "Die Form folgt der Funktion" ("Form follows function") in an unexpected way.

Ben Moreau cares about putting together technique and artistic conception in his photographs, paying a brilliant tribute to the creative qualities of the architects. These levels of reading are an incitement to revisit notions of order, abstraction, space and complementarity.
